APSF Pushes Forward with Para-Sports and Para Esports Development in Southeast Asia

The ASEAN Para Sports Federation (APSF) is fully committed, to promoting and advancing para sports in Southeast Asia, which includes the Para Esports that were recently introduced. This dedication was reaffirmed by APSF Secretary General, Senior Colonel Dr. Wandee Tosuwan, who emphasized the integration of Para Esports into both the 12th ASEAN Para Games and the WorldAbilitysport Games.

Para Esports Achieves an Introduction in Southeast Asia

During the 12th ASEAN Para Games held in Phnom Penh, Cambodia there was a moment as Para Esports made its debut albeit as a demonstration. Following this milestone Para Esports continued to gain recognition by being featured as a demonstration sport at the WorldAbilitysport Games in Nakhon Ratchasima (Korat) Thailand. These two events clearly demonstrate the increasing popularity and significance of Para Esports on a scale.

Senior Colonel Dr. Wandee acknowledged the significance of these steps for the future of Para Esports in Southeast Asia; The inclusion of Para Esports in the concluded WorldAbilitysport Games is promising for further advancements, within our para community and showcases how this sport is gaining global recognition.

Korat Prepares for Hosting the 13th ASEAN Para Games in 2026

As the 13th ASEAN Para Games approaches in January 2026 Senior Colonel Dr. Wandee expressed confidence, in their ability to successfully host the event. He praised the organizing committee of the WorldAbilitysport Games for executing the event and commended Korats preparedness for the upcoming Games.

Looking ahead the APSF remains dedicated to collaborating with stakeholders in the paralympic movement to further improve para sports and support athletes in the region. This includes advocating for the growth and inclusion of Para Esports recognizing its potential to engage and inspire a generation of athletes.

Senior Colonel Dr. Wandee concluded by emphasizing the APSFs commitment to inclusivity and empowerment:

“The ASEAN Para Sports Federation will continue working to ensure that athletes with disabilities have equal opportunities to participate in sports at all levels. We firmly believe that sports can serve as a tool for inclusion and we are dedicated to making it accessible for everyone.”

The APSFs dedication towards promoting para sports and developing Para Esports is crucial in providing athletes with disabilities, in Southeast Asia with access, opportunities and support they require to achieve their potential.
By collaborating with stakeholders and providing assistance to initiatives such, as the 13th ASEAN Para Games, the APSF is actively contributing towards a future for para sports, in the region.
